Best buys .. retailers

Wouldn't it be great to reach your local community of bloggers and tweeters who can help to promote what you're best at? TweetCloser is that way.

The 'best buys' section of TweetCloser potentially shows what's hot in every town or city worldwide. It gives people their "must see's" when they come into town, and of course it's a valuable link to your website. All you need to do is let us at @TweetCloser know what your best seller is.

You could approach this in a few ways. Ideally, you would literally let us know of your best seller, whether that's a particular dress or a size and style of coffee, the most popular seat in your theatre, the most popular membership deal or class at your gym, or the film at your multiplex (you can change it as often as you like to keep it bang up to date).

If you're a coffee shop and the actual best buy is a mug of coffee, you could extend it to also say which is your most popular cake to go with it.

Of course, although we would encourage you to base your choice of product or service on the actual, real-world popularity, we accept that you may skip over the mundane realities to list a more interesting item a short way down the list, I believe there's a lot to be said for, for instance, a local newsagent listing their most popular item as The Daily Mail, or 20 Benson and Hedges. Partly, that's because TweetCloser is about describing a location, for instance to someone who might want to visit or move there. Partly it's because there's something refreshing and new about cutting through the marketing hype to the realities, and if your best buy is a 4 pack of AA batteries, maybe that's because you sell the best ones at the best price in town and people need to know that.

There's some humour and goodwill to be had here. If you're the local corner shop in a small village and you say that your best seller is 2 pints of semi-skimmed milk, I think that's honest and funny and on-brand .. you provide key essentials.

Once we've fully developed this, shoppers will be able to vote for their favourites.

So how do you do this? Just tweet us @TweetCloser with a link to the best product on your website (if you have a website, no worries if not). There is a small admin charge for this .. the equivalent of £29.95 in your country for six months. You can change your link as many times as you like in that time.

When we say the equivalent, because tweetCloser is about mixing local and global, that price will be equated to your country's GDO per head. In other words, if you're in, for instance, Sudan, it'll be cheaper. We'll work out the details when it happens :-)

You don't have to be a physical shop to participate. If you're an ecommerce retailer, you get listed in your home town but you can still get a link to your best seller.

Now, this is a brand new facility so you can probably be the first link in your town if you like. To see it working, take a look at Scarborough.
